A Wrapturous
Blog 2005-05-17 - 15:25 Week 39: YOJ 3/4 Mark This week marks the 3/4 point in the Year of Jewellery. So it's a good time to review the Project Objectives. I would say that on the whole I am meeting the objectives I set for myself. There are weeks when I think I could have done better, and other weeks when I feel I've done really well. One of the things I really like about the YOJ is looking back at all the entries and seeing exactly what my headspace has been. The usefulness of the diary in that respect cannot be understated. The theme for this week is "Facetted Stones". One of the things I really admire about Robbie Ward's work is her ability to set really small facetted stones in wire prongs. I have had the privilege of seeing Robbie's work first hand and one of the pieces I remember that stood out was a square of facetted stones set together. It was a really complex piece. Unfortunately Robbie's website no longer shows much of her own work. But she is also a participant in the YOJ and has contributed many wonderful pieces to the YOJ gallery. Someone on CWJ (leahmichon?) posted a picture recently of two moonstone cabs wrapped together, with a snapset tanzanite in between. Unfortunately I can't find the link to the photo. I really like the proportions and the placement of the stones, so for this week's project I decided to try my hand at prong setting some vintage glass in a similar combination:
I've made prong set pendants before, but never combined two or more stones together, so it was a bit of challenge. Not bad for a first try...
DH and I are celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary this week. Happy Anniversary Sweetheart xoxoxox
